What is GAIGI?

GAIGI (Geneva AI Governance Institute) is an independent technical institute based in Geneva, Switzerland, and an ITU Sector Member. It develops methodologies and practical tools to help governments, organizations, and businesses reduce regulatory divergences between jurisdictions and preserve their digital sovereignty. GAIGI is also the organizer of the Geneva AI Trade Forum.

No. GAIGI (Geneva AI Governance Institute) is an independent institute headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It has no affiliation whatsoever with any entity named GAIGI in China or elsewhere. Our institute operates exclusively from Geneva, within the Swiss and international ecosystem, and is governed by Swiss law.

GAIGI is funded by Mazolo & Cie as its founding sponsor, along with support from entities within the Geneva ecosystem. This funding model ensures our independence and neutrality, allowing us to operate as a trusted third party in AI governance matters.

The GAIGI Crosswalk Open is the first open-source regulatory interoperability mapping tool for AI. It unifies 7 major regulatory frameworks (NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001, China TC260, OECD, Singapore MGF, UK Framework) into a single structured dataset. It is freely available on GitHub for anyone to use, verify, and adapt.
